Genuine Communication and the Role of Negativity in Relationships

While I have moved away from calling myself things like a “Modern Gender Traditionalist” over that last year, I still participate in what is arguably a traditional marriage relationship and a traditionally female role in life. Unfortunately, it’s been a while since I wrote on anything related to the Traditionalism I originally built this blog around- and for that I apologize. Things haven’t been easy over the last year, but I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things soon… Starting with talking about something that bothers me quite often concerning some (unfortunately) fairly common relationship advice.

I’ve touched on it before briefly, but after reading a different article today I’ve decided to remove its mentions from the original posts, and talk about it in a post of its own; it’s an important topic that I feel needs to be addressed a bit more in depth than in passing mention. An Overview of My Old Diet

When people find out that I spent 3 years losing 70+ pounds, despite the fact that I’ve put most of that back on many people want to know what I did. The answer is a simple one, but one most don’t often want to hear: I worked out 5 days a week and ate well.

And since we’re on the subject of food, this is generally the outline I tended to follow for my diet during that time- which was later changed in order to test out some of the Becker suggestions. A longer overview with more information can be found here, as well.

Healthy Meal Ideas

When people find out that I spent 3 years losing 70+ pounds, despite the fact that I’ve put most of that back on many people want to know what I did. The answer is a simple one, but one most don’t often want to hear: I worked out 5 days a week and ate well.

Since I shared my old Fitness routine, I figured I would also share some common meals I ate during that same time frame. Continue reading “Healthy Meal Ideas”

My Old Workout Routine

When people find out that I spent 3 years losing 70+ pounds, despite the fact that I’ve put most of that back on many people want to know what I did. The answer is a simple one, but one most don’t often want to hear: I worked out 5 days a week and ate well.

I thought sharing my old routine may be helpful to others looking to do the same. Please keep in mind, however, that this was my workout routine at the absolute peak of my fitness. It is not a routine that a beginner is likely going to be capable of doing right out the door. If you take anything from this old routine of mine, let it be my absolute love and recommendation of the P90X series; even if you can’t do more than 15 minutes of any given video (like I couldn’t when I first started), it will be worth it. Taking Pride in Your (Physical) Appearance

Beauty has been on my mind a lot recently. And that topic isn’t just on my own mind, it appears; not long ago the lovely Elsie spoke about how most (Traditionalist) Men need a Trophy Wife. Contrary to how it sounds, though, the post was about how men enjoy it when their women take pride in their appearance, and how it benefits all partners in a relationship to maintain their physical appearances to certain standards.

I bring Beauty and appearances up, however, not because of Elsie’s article- though it certainly provides some food for thought. Instead, I bring it up because recently I was asking about the historical connotations and intent behind the listing of “Beauty” as a virtue in early Irish culture and Spirituality, which those who follow me know I have recently been dumped into head first. My Best Nutritional Advice

I get asked often what my best nutritional advice is by those who are starting their journey to a healthier lifestyle. The problem is, there’s so much to cover. I’ve covered some of it when answering questions about Clean Eating and related topics, but never in terms of outright nutritional advice so far.

The truth is that most of my advice, though, often winds up boiling down to “Don’t fall into “health” traps”- and unfortunately there are a lot of them. Continue reading “My Best Nutritional Advice”

Ending 2015 on a Bad Note

I didn’t expect to have so many health issues so close to the end of the year, but that seems to be exactly what happened. It was mostly pretty standard: I had the Flu and am still recovering and my Tooth started hurting again. Last night, though, it didn’t go so well and I wound up in the Emergency Room for the first time in years.  Continue reading “Ending 2015 on a Bad Note”

Meal Plans and Staying On Track with Food

Though our current schedule and residence keeps me unable to carry out food prep and other activities as efficiently and often as I would like, I would still like to share the things that I was doing that helped me stay on track. After all, a healthy diet is one cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle and person! Continue reading “Meal Plans and Staying On Track with Food”
